a novel by D.J.MURPHY

II found "A Thousand Veils" to be entirely refreshing, rich in detail, and especially germaine to today's situation in the Middle East and Iraq. Mr. Murphy's superb use of desciptors, his development of the protagonist and the other characters absolutely grabbed me as I got into this down-on-the trenches adventure.

Based on Mr.Murphy's first hand experiences in the region, "A Thousand Veils" gave me a very human perspective on the impact of the Iraq war, an impact that is hard to get from reading the daily dispatches. But the book is much more than that. The characters come alive as the plot thickens. It becomes a hard core adventure as you get into it, a real page turner.

I wonder just how many of the adventures are truly fictional. I'd bet many are based on the writer's own experiences. I hope an interviewer will be able to get this out of Mr. Murphy one of these days, the sooner the better.
